The Engineering Design Center (EDC) is one of GE Infrastructure global engineering sites, created in 2000 based on an Engineering Alliance Agreement between GE Aircraft Engines and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. Requirements:

  • MSC in Engineering and min 3 years of experience or BSC in Engineering and 5 years of experience in-depth knowledge of Finite Element Analysis
  • practical knowledge and experience of structural analysis of steel structures
  • familiarity/experience with NPI process
  • demonstrated written and oral communication skills as well as interpersonal and leadership skills
  • team oriented, open minded and quick learner
  • desired:
  • skills in utilizing STAAD, TRIFLEX and NASTRAN or ANSYS programs
  • working knowledge of AISC, ASME, Eurocodes and Building Codes (International and Uniform)
  • expert knowledge in vibration theory and mechanics
  • candidate must be thorough, accurate, with good communication skills and able to work with minimal supervision
  • knowledge of relevant Codes and Standards applicable to Gas Turbine Packaging and familiarity with the equivalent European Codes
  • knowledge of Unigraphics and/or Inventor

Duties:

  • position description:
  • this position is formulated as a result of a growing team requiring internal technical expertise and project leadership in the field of structural analysis. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to perform and lead structural analysis across Aero product lines. This includes NPI programs such as PG/PH, LM2000e etc as well as ongoing analysis for highly customized requisitions projects
  • responsibilities:
  • execute with some guidance analytical projects supporting NPI and OTR efforts
  • work with cross functional teams to define design objectives & requirements
  • analysis and design of static and dynamic models of structural steel frames and supports associated with Gas Turbine Packaging, pipe stress analysis and pipe support design, foundation loading calculations
  • provide technical leadership to other personnel assigned to support the effort on assigned components, assemblies and/or systems
  • design functionality, safety, integrity and compliance with appropriate Codes and GE Practices
  • perform hand calculations to verify design details
  • design review support including presentation of reports and analysis results
  • document technical data generated to substantiate the assigned components, assemblies and/or systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • application of appropriate Six Sigma and DFSS tools
