The Engineering Design Center ( www.edcpolska.pl )is one of General Electric (GE) global engineering sites, created in 2000 based on agreement between GE Aircraft Engines and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. EDC is providing engineering services for three GE businesses: GE Aviation, GE Energy and GE Oil&Gas. Currently we are looking for a candidate to work on a position of Performance Engineer in the Advanced Mechanical Design Team for GE Aviation.

Requirements:

  • required qualifications:
  • MSc or BSc in Mechanical Engineering
  • demonstrated knowledge and understanding of linear and non-linear FEA for mechanical and structural systems, including preferably 2 years of ANSYS (or similar)
  • good Excel and Mathcad knowledge
  • basic knowledge of Solid modeling with ProEngineer or other similar 3D product design CAD systems
  • ability to speak and write fluently in English. Including good communication skills
  • desired qualifications:
  • at least 2 years experience, preferably within the subsea industry
  • STAAD Pro experience
  • experienced with applicable industry codes
  • experienced in mechanical hardware design and development
  • have a good understanding of production processes for metals
  • strong grasp of materials
  • have a basic understanding of Engineering drafting techniques, geometrical dimensioning and tolerances
  • highly proactive and results oriented
  • high level of curiosity and creativity combined with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • ability to work systematically on your own as well as part of a team

Duties:

  • role summary/purpose:
  • the structural analyst will focus on performing analysis to solve mechanical challenges for the current product line and development of the next generation subsea connection systems
  • essential responsibilities:
  • the person in this role will be responsible for analyses and supporting mechanical engineers to develop design solutions for discipline and cross-disciplinary engineering problems. The structural engineer will utilize geometric models and commercial software packages for analysis, design optimization and new product developments
  • the responsibility will also include cross-functional work to define, implement and test the solutions
  • typical work tasks and defined responsibilities in the role:
  • perform analysis and hand calculations of subsea intervention tools and connection systems and writing design reports
  • recommend approaches and improvements to meet technical and program/project requirements,commitments
  • cooperate with the designer, project technical leads and product responsible to ensure the delivery of products are in accordance with the project needs and company standards
  • develop action plans to respond to problems
  • participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical reviews
