The Engineering Design Center (EDC) is one of GE Infrastructure global engineering sites, created in 2000 based on an Engineering Alliance Agreement between GE Aircraft Engines and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. EDC consists of two companies: GE Company Polska Ltd. and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. Requirements:
- an Electrical Electronics engineer with experience of high reliability, low volume and custom design is required
- specific subsea or offshore design experience is not essential, though a working knowledge of the Offshore Oil and Gas industry would be considered an asset
- the position is within the Engineering Services Electrical team, engaging in all Electrical/Electronic aspects of the equipment portfolio
- Desirable knowledge areas:
- analogue and Digital Electronics
- Electrical Power and Communication Systems
- switch gear wiring to single phase and DC
- micro-controller (or Micro-processor) based digital system development
- power converter applications (AC-DC) and (DC-DC)
- industrial instrumentation and analogue signal conditioning
- electrical schematic capture and analysis tools: Altium (Protel), Pspice or equivalent packages
- multi-layer surface mount and through-hole Printed Circuit Board design
- designing for CE compliance (EMC, LVD, RoHS, WEEE, BS7671, etc)
- Automatic Test Equipment and Thermal and Vibration Testing
- Skills Summary:
- Degree Qualified in an Engineering discipline
- industrial experience of the design of low volume high reliability specialist electronic and electrical equipment
- broad based design experience of analogue, digital, communications, power electrical systems and sub-assemblies
- ability to produce functional design specifications and associated documentation
- ability to produce innovative and cost effective design solutions within project timescales and budget without compromising design quality
- knowledge of design for CE compliance and interpretation and implementation of other international design standards
- proven problem solver capable of readily applying expertise to problems
- ability to find and define a pragmatic and workable engineering solution
- ability to assimilate new information quickly. Adaptable and responsive to changing requirements and circumstances
- ability to work both in a team environment and under own supervision
- confident communicator at all levels: written and spoken English, presentations and meetings, technical and administrative
Duties:
- design, development and test of electrical & electronic assemblies
- Digital and Analogue circuit simulation
- configuration and adaptation of existing designs to meet new projects requirements
- support of custom test equipment
- generation and maintenance of all engineering lifecycle documentation
- participate in design reviews
- Engineering support for equipment during manufacture, test and installation
- System Fault finding and diagnostics
- work across disciplines and departments, particular production and manufacturing
