The Engineering Design Center (EDC) is one of GE Infrastructure global engineering sites, created in 2000 based on an Engineering Alliance Agreement between GE Aircraft Engines and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. EDC consists of two companies: GE Company Polska Ltd. and Warsaw Institute of Aviation. Currently EDC is working on the products of three GE Infrastructure businesses: GE Aviation, GE Energy, GE Oil&Gas. www.edcpolska.pll
Requirements:
- BS in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering as a minimum
- solid knowledge of fluid mechanics and heat transfer
- minimum of 2 years practical knowledge and experience in using Fluid Flow Analysis tools
- Desired:
- MS in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering
- skills in using the different modules of fluid flow analysis in the software FLOWMASTER
- good understanding of incompressible and compressible flow physics in one dimensional networks
- strong theoretical understanding of the pressure drop calculations across various flow components
- experience in resolving common numerical issues to obtain the converged results
- knowledge of UNIGRAPHICS software to measure the required dimensions of the flow components
- candidate must be thorough, accurate, with good communication skills and able to work with minimal supervision
Duties:
- perform one dimensional (1D) steady state and transient flow analysis of gas turbine fuel, cooling, lube oil and hydraulic systems associated with the LM2X, LM6000 and the LMS100 Product Lines.
- size different components including pipes, valves, orifices and pumps to meet the pressure drop requirements.
- predict the effects of water hammer due to sudden closure of shut-off valves.
- calculate and communicate the flow boundary conditions for review.
- perform hand calculations to verify design details.
- provide accurate and detailed reports and presentations of results.
- apply appropriate Six Sigma and DFSS tools including Design of Experiments
